Who We Are and Why We Built Snapper Candy’s

Snapper Candy’s wasn’t created to follow a trend. It was built to fix a problem we kept seeing on the beach and amoung anglers alike.

We’re anglers first. We fish the Far North, West Coast, harbours, gutters, channels, murky water and crystal clear water. All of it. Time after time we saw the same thing. Good rigs. Good bait. Good spots. But sometimes nothing happening. Meanwhile, the snapper are there, just not committing.

That’s where Snapper Candy’s started.

The Missing Piece on Rigs

Most anglers focus heavily on bait and hooks. Fair enough. But what often gets overlooked is visibility.

Underwater, snapper aren’t seeing what we see above the surface. Light drops off fast. Colour fades. Contrast matters more than realism. If a fish can’t find your bait quickly or confidently, it moves on.

We started experimenting with beads, colours, UV, glow, spacing and contrast. Not in a lab, but in real fishing conditions. Early mornings. Late nights. Rough surf. Quiet sessions where you learn fast or go home empty handed.

The result was simple. Rigs with the right colour and contrast got hit more often. Not every cast. Not magic. Just consistently better.

That was the lightbulb moment.

Why We Built the Range

Snapper Candy’s was created to give anglers control.

Instead of one or two generic colours, we've brought in a wide range so anglers could actually match conditions.

Dirty water and clear water

Bright sun and low light

Day and night

Shallow and deep

Aggressive fish and cautious fish

Every colour in the range exists for a reason. If it doesn’t add contrast, visibility or trigger a response, it doesn’t make the cut.

We don’t believe in one colour fits all. Snapper don’t either.

Education First, Always

From day one, Snapper Candy’s has been about education, not hype.

We explain why colours work.

We explain when to use them.

We show how to rig them properly.

Anyone can sell beads. Very few can explain what’s actually happening underwater and back it up with real world fishing. Because most of the sales reps, don't even fish themselves.

That’s why you’ll see us talk about UV, contrast, reaction bites and fish behaviour. Once you understand it, you fish smarter. And smarter anglers catch more fish.

Snapper Candy's was built in the Far North, but tested everywhere.

Snapper Candy’s was born through Taipa Tackle in the Far North of New Zealand. It’s a region that forces you to learn fast. Conditions change. Fish move. What worked yesterday might not work today.

That environment shaped the brand.

Everything we sell has been tested, adjusted, refined and fished hard. If we wouldn’t fish it ourselves, it doesn’t go on the shelf.

Why We Stand Behind It

Snapper Candy’s isn’t about gimmicks or copying what everyone else is doing. It’s about giving anglers an edge through visibility, colour and understanding how snapper feed.

We back the range because we built it the hard way. Time on the water. Trial and error. Plenty of blank sessions along the way.

If it helps you get one extra bite, one extra fish, or finally crack a tough spot, then it’s done its job.

That’s why Snapper Candy’s exists.
